As you may understand there is a whole lot more to Zanzibar than beaches and tropical languor. Stone Town (declared World Heritage) has its own charme and is probably the most facinating and atmospheric city south of the Sahara. Prison Island with its giant tortoises is only 20 minutes by boat off stone Town. Do not mis a "spice tour" to the islands famous spice plantations. The tropical forest "Jozani" on the middle of the island contains troops of endangered red colobus monkeys. The possibilities for watersports like scubadiving, dhow sailing etc. are numerous. Or just have a swim with the dolphins at Kizimkazi.
